This is one of my favourite places in Scotland, Castle Tioram. It sits on a little tidal island in an area known as the Rough Bounds and was home to a branch of the MacDonalds known as Clanranald. Of all their chiefs, none were feared quite as much as Allan MacRuari. He built a legendary reputation for himself and to his neighbours, he was an untouchable terror.
