Aug 18, 2008 · Used both 2nd and 3rd grade with my oldest - full package. The jump, though, from 3rd to 4th was too much - and it didn't seem to prep them for the drastic jump (K-3rd IS all about filling in the blank - 4th up is more conceptual trying to get the kids to draw conclusions, though they never taught them the process of how to do it).

Apr 25, 2004 · Its nice to keep up with grade level since we want some kind of comparison with what other children our children's age are doing.. So do your level, spread it out and complete it. Also, in just 2 years, my pace with my oldest has picked up quite a bit.

Last year, our first year hs, my grandma (who substitutes full time in ps, and taught 1st grade for over 40 yrs) copied the TOC of a 2nd grade textbook for me and that is what I based my "curriculum" on at that time.

So for example, where one curriculum provider might decide to teach grammar in first grade, the next provider will start in second.
Does any know the state of TX requirements for first graders?
Jan 15, 2010 · I learned this the hard way as my child who read on 3rd grade level in kindergarten couldn't be placed gifted after starting kindergarten, but the child whose mom had her tested and she couldn't read fluently yet but could read on maybe a 1st grade level got to be in gifted. Also, gifted is not a separate classroom or separate curriculum.

Apr 27, 2010 · My dd is going into the 3rd grade next year and I want to use the Sequential Spelling curriculum. I was looking at it and it is so different then the way the ps has been teaching her. She is a very good speller for the most part but when I read over some of the work she brings home I see where she spells some lower words wrong still.
