In Sanskrit, the term ‘Su’ means good and ‘Prabhath’ means morning. Suprabhatam means - good morning. It is the act of dedicating ourselves to the Lord and praying for His blessings at the start of a new day.

Suprabhatham literally means ‘good morning’! (Su, good, prabhatham, morning or dawn). In Western culture, people wish each other “Good Morning.” But in Indian culture this is not done, because it is considered to be the equivalent of pouring water on the leaves of a tree.

“Prabha” literally means a dawn or light. In English, we could say “suprabhat” means “good morning”. “Good morning”, said not in words but by a certain format of sounds. These have been formatted for different deities in the country.
