I need an exponential function that will take linear input from 0,0 to 1,1 and give me back an exponential shaped curve such that changes in X near the 0 point result in small increases in Y, but each step increases as X gets closer to 1. Similar to the solid line in this graph:

If you're talking about a ramp (y=0, t<0; y=t, t>=0), as opposed to some sort of sawtooth periodic wave, think of the ramp as the integral of a step function. The Fourier Xform of the step function is (1/jw). The Xform of the integral of x(t) is (1/jw)X(jw). When you apply both of these rules, the Fourier Transform of the ramp is (1/jw)^2

At \$\small t=0\$, three things happen: the initial ramp is halted; the signal steps up by 2 units to the origin; and a new ramp with a slope of 2 begins. These three things can be combined into a single ramp, with appropriate slope, plus a step, \$\small 2u(t)\$

The first two "pieces" of your graph seem to fit the "ramp" function, with $(a,0)$ replacing $(0,0)$ of the "general" example you provide for a ramp function. But the first and third "pieces" comprise what could be described as a step-function (with endpoints joined by the second "piece"/line).
