Sep 1, 2008 · Thanks for all the great info guys. After reading all the comments I thinking I just might drop the Quietrock & go Green Glue route. The main issue with that is getting the stuff with me being on the Vancouver & the only Canadian guys that carry it are in the east so shipping is going to be a pain but c'est la vie.

However, I'm wondering if it is worth it considering: a) I have a lot of space already between the neighbors and myself, so I don't know if I'll even need it. b) There is a large window in the room which is the weakest link.

Dec 28, 2016 · Installing multiple layers of QuietRock with Green Glue between them kind of negates the purpose of buying the "factory assembled" drywall assembly. I think that BIG is right on with the thought that your contractor is "name dropping" product names to make it sound like he knows what he is doing.

Sep 30, 2010 · Looking at costs, I can get the residential version of Quietrock from Lowe's and have it installed around $50 a sheet. If I go with two sheets of drywall with GG in between, that installed cost would be about $80 a sheet.

Jun 26, 2020 · Yes, the Quietrock he was talking about was the 1/2" variety. I don't think physically I could get the rest done, even renting a lift; the first ceiling layer was already installed when we moved in. We just did the walls ourselves with the panels the builder left for us in the room. I'm not sure my back could take another round.
