Mar 27, 2009 · I've read a lot of posts on the subject of a maker's mark. It would seem simple since slipjoints traditionally have a stamped mark. However some say that the knives have to be heated to take the mark. Others say no, a cold stamp works well, ie. EVERS STAMP.

Apr 5, 2006 · When the stamp came I went over one evening and stamped the blade last week and got it ready for HT, which Tony did. Tony uses a 3/16" bushing as a pivot on his folders and he lapped the bushing in for me. The bushing is about .001" wider than the blade which allows the liners to compress against it rather than the blade.

Feb 19, 2018 · I don't think you can go wrong with any brand name 2x72. you can get away with a 1x30 if you want. the slipjoint doesn't really need high horsepower. As with the surface grinder you could use hand tools. you can file the bevels and profile manually.

Jan 9, 2013 · You need a hard flat surface to build a slip joint. One you can drill holes in to test assemble the kinfe, determine spring pressure, etc. I used a piece of hard wood for the first knife, but for this knife I got a 6" x 12" x 1/2" thick plate of aluminum.

I'm curious to know, in addition to the maker's name, what information people like to see marked on the blade, or elsewhere.
