MESCO is a civil and sanitary engineering company offering planning, analysis and design services to both public and private entities. For over 40 years, Municipal Engineering has been delivering functional, high quality projects at the lowest possible cost.

Municipal Engineering Services Company was established in 1978 as a new type of civil / sanitary engineering firm that would cater to the communities and local governments of North Carolina.

Municipal Engineering’s legacy is in good hands with Jimmy and Carol Woodie’s son, Travis. It is safe to say, Travis was born into and grew up working in the company. At an early age, he was exposed to every aspect of the industry and learned each facet completely.

We have staff members who have been with Municipal Engineering for 30+ years, but we continue to hire young professionals in order to maintain our philosophy in the future. We also believe in giving back to the communities we work, live and play in.

Design of the substation site by local engineering firm, Municipal Engineering, provides landscaping with a heavy screening of shrubs and trees which will be planted in the next several months so that they will be well established before actual substation construction begins.

Municipal Engineering’s Funding Team includes folks with many years of experience working with the various State and Federal funding agencies to identify and secure funding commitments for our client’s projects.

Municipal Engineering staff has completed surveying services, including 45-50 easements, for a project along US Highway 115 for the Town of North Wilkesboro, NC. Engineering surveying for all design projects. GIS mapping for Towns of Ayden, Landis, Murfreesboro, Warrenton, Louisburg, Old Fort and Stantonsburg.

In 2016, Municipal Engineering was able to assist the Town of Taylorsville, NC obtain the first N.C. Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan to construct a 100 KW Photovoltaic Renewable Energy System to offset the cost of electricity at its 0.83 mgd wastewater treatment facility.

Municipal Engineering designed a new elevated 75,000 gallon water storage tank and two new wells with updated pumping, control, and disinfection systems. In addition, a backup generator was included to increase the performance and reliability of the water distribution system.
