Oct 11, 2000 · 95% of the winterized diesel fuel sold in North America is blended with kerosene. 30% kero is good for about 0F. In Canada the fuel is blended as high as 50%. Up in the arctic areas they will run 100% kerosene. Diesel fuel begins to "cloud up" around 30F. This cloudyness are wax crystals that are still small enough to pass through the fuel filter.

Feb 20, 2005 · kerosene as fuel? kerosene WILL NOT work in a TDI. Kerosene is not like Diesel #1 due to its very dry characteristics and low viscosity. Bosch tested to failure the VE series pump on Kerosene/Jet-A for 500 hours and resulted in total failure of the newer injection pumps.

Nov 6, 2003 · Also, they sell fuel additives at hardware stores for kerosene heaters that increase the cetane and add a scent. Oh, and having owned OLD kerosene heaters, usually the ignitors quit working, and then you have to stick a lighter in there. But, the things work pretty well.

It has no sulfur, but for that 40 cent difference you could afford a lot of fuel additives! Better in the winter. My [twisted] logic: Kerosene is 40 cents cheaper than the places that carry quality diesel.

Jun 16, 1999 · I can get all the sump fuel i want for free and i won't use it in my TDI...i don't want to risk trashing a $3000 injector pump to save a few bucks on fuel... After somebody successfully runs Jet fuel for 300,000 - 350,000 miles (what i consider the minimum design life of the TDI) then let's talk about a lack of adverse effects. Just my $0.02.

With all respect, I think the beta testing was accomplished years ago. Don't fuel up with gasoline or kerosene and in all likelihood your fuel system will live a long, long time.

If you have any BD in the mix treat the fuel and dilute it with petro diesel below that 10 * C mark . Below a sustained 0 * C ( 32 * F ) keep BD % below 30 % treat it double dose .
