Sep 6, 2021 · 90db is highly efficient, perhaps, why JBL says the L100's can be enjoyed from a 20 watt amp. I have powered my 8 ohm L100t3's with amps delivering 5o to 560 watts per channel and I've got to tell ya I had no perception that 50 watts was too little power.

Jan 6, 2020 · I've owned an assortment of JBL's including the L100, own an assortment of east coast speakers including Advents, and have listened to the HPM-100. The HPM was designed by an ex-JBL guy and was targeted right at the L100. Many people like them, I found them to be even more forward than the L100 which to me was a bit much.

Apr 18, 2016 · Many years ago I refurbished a pair of JBL L100's. The thick walnut veneer really took the sanding needed to get out the scratches and the Danish Oil gave it a beautiful patina. New tweeter surrounds, a pair of the orange replacement grills and some better posts really brought these speakers back to their 70's glory from a visual standpoint.

For good reasons JBL only kept the L-100 in production for 1 year in 1970 and then the much improved L-100a had its run from 1971-1979 becoming JBL's top selling speaker ever.

Above 50Hz, another story completely. If you want to do better than 240Ti you could look for JBL M2 Master Reference Monitors or JBL 4367 Synthesis consumer versions.
