Open Google Earth Pro. Draw a path or open an existing path. Click Edit Show Elevation Profile. An elevation profile will appear in the the lower half of the 3D Viewer. If your elevation measurement reads "0," make sure the terrain layer is turned on. The Y-axis of the chart displays the elevation, and the X-axis of the chart displays the distance.

Dec 3, 2023 · One other option might be to draw a rough path between the two placemarks and save it as a kml file (not kmz which is a zipped format). A kml file can be edited with a text editor such as Notepad++, so you could edit it to put in the exact coordinates copied from the placemarks, and the re-open it in Google Earth.
