Exclusive Metro Connect The Government of Tamil Nadu created a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for implementing the Chennai Metro Rail Project. This SPV named as “Chennai Metro Rail Limited” was incorporated on 03.12.2007 under the Companies Act.

Jul 23, 2024 · Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) have accorded approval for implementation of three Metro Rail Corridors for a length of 118.9 Km under Phase II of Chennai Metro Rail Project. GoTN have recommended the same to Central Government for funding under 50:50 equity share mode and also loan assistance from Bilateral /Multilateral agencies.

Chennai Metro consists of two colour-coded lines covering a substantial part of the city: Blue Line: Extending from Wimco Nagar to the Airport, this line includes crucial stops like Koyambedu, Alandur, and Chennai International Airport, facilitating intra-city and inter-city travel.
