Sep 19, 2015 · Burrow is a movement speed and creatures with it do not provoke OA's. However, if a player was to attempt to dig a hole in combat... I'd say that does provoke. It depends on the situation, creatures only leave a hole behind that is the size they are, if it only goes down 5 feet into the ground it should still be attackable.

I think of "burrowing speed" being... well the speed of creating a burrow! So creatures with burrowing speed can burrow through the earth. If this creature leaves behind a hole then any creature who fits could follow them (perhaps using the squeeze to fit rules even).

Now imagine if this took place in a different dungeon like Princes of the Apocalypse, where you not only have fewer restrictions, but have items specifically enabling burrowing tactics (Claws of the Umber Hulk).
