Jul 16, 2020 · I'm a fan of both. I reload 22 hornet, and cast projectiles in .224, several weights. I can and do load a nice little 22 cast projectile in my 22 hornet. Very reasonable cost, performance about the same as 22 mag. the price is between the 22lr and 22mag. When I go to jacketed projectiles the cost rises about the same as 22mag.

Sep 7, 2004 · Have had several 22 Mags over the years and love all of them. Have 2 22 Mag hand guns and a Marlin 25 bolt rifle. These are bad little bullets. Know a guy that only deer hunts with a 22 Mag, sits in stand and shoots them behind the ear, must have taken 75 like that. I also own a 22-250 and my 22 mag gets shot 10 times more than the rest.:burnout:

Jul 15, 2013 · .22 Long Rifle is pretty well "standard" for most .22's. .22 Short is a less powerful and shorter length cartridge and will work better in a revolver that does not rely on power to function the action of the firearm. .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle are not the same thing.

Jun 17, 2013 · In essence, .22LR from, say a 3" bbl goes from a low of 726fps to a high of 1129fps whereas a .22 WMRF in a 3" bbl goes from a low of 1049fps to a high of 1336 fps. There are numbers too for results from "real world weapons." Lots of good info. I've heard the adage that a .22 magnum gives you .22 LR RIFLE ballistics from a handgun.

Feb 17, 2011 · The 22 magnum bullet is a couple of thousandths larger than the 22 Long Rifle, 22 Long, 22 short, CB, et.al. the case is also larger in diameter, and, as stated, length. The smaller 22 rimfire cartridges will balloon and possibly rupture when fired in the 22 Magnum chamber.
