Oct 1, 2017 · It does look like a Chafer Beetle larvae (or as they are called in North Texas and Eastetn Oklahoma - "June Bug" larvae. Generically referred to as a "Grub Worm.") Although, I have seen hundreds of 'Grub Worms' and this one appears to be larger than any I have experience with. And, it is darker than 'Grub Worms.'

That picture shows what looks remarkably like a chafer grub, commonest in lawns, but also found in borders and vegetable beds, where it particularly likes root crops. Japanese beetle grubs are similar, but have, if you look closely, a sort of hairy spine - small, fine hairs that stick up, which I cannot see in the picture, so closer examination ...

Jun 10, 2013 · Giant Hogweed leaves: Height: Cow Parsley grows to about 3' to 4' in height (1m to 1.3m), Giant Hogweed grows to 7' to 15' / 2m to 4.5m, though Wikipedia says it can grow higher. Stems: both plants have hollow stems, but Giant Hogweed has dark reddish spots on its stems. Cow Parsley's stems are green and fluted.

Aug 22, 2015 · Giant Hogweed is really, really big, especially if in bloom. (flowers look totally different, too) If you want an ID, we need better / more pictures: Whole plant, close-up of blooms and leaves and preferably some scale in the pictures, too.

Aug 9, 2015 · Meh, it's protein. The grub's made of the same stuff you're eating. And the rest of the vegetable is in pristine condition. You can cut out the section that's had grub activity (if it's been eaten into) and the rest is just fine to eat. Same goes for an ear of corn that had a corn ear worm take out kernels or an apple that's had an apple borer ...

Aug 17, 2023 · There is a downpipe nearby, if that is relevant. I would like to get rid of the worms but do not want to kill any of the plants in the same area. The dead worms are mainly straight, few are curled up. The worms are a bit brown, red, see through with what looks like black food through the centre of the worm. They do not have legs.

May 12, 2018 · Run a hand cultivar through the soil under the patch of lawn that you just removed. Count the grubs. If the total number of grubs found is less than 10, you do NOT have a grub problem. I'd probably repeat this test in several different places, but do not apply any grub-killer until you have more than 10 grubs in more then one square of lawn.
