Sir Thomas More PC (7 February 1478 – 6 July 1535), venerated in the Catholic Church as Saint Thomas More, [2] was an English lawyer, judge, [3] social philosopher, author, statesman, amateur theologian, and noted Renaissance humanist. [4] He also served Henry VIII as Lord High Chancellor of England from October 1529 to May 1532. [5]

Mar 30, 2021 · Within the Diocese of Venice, Father Henry also served on the Pastor Peer Review, Diocesan Priest Personnel and the Priest Convocation Committees. In retirement, Father continues to assist at St. Thomas More and at a local retirement community.

May 27, 2021 · Father Henry Roberson, who joined the Catholic Church at St. Thomas More, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his ordination as a priest. Fr. Henry will say the daily Mass at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, which will be followed by a reception in the Atrium (older part of the church) to which all are invited.

St. Thomas More is widely known as “a man for all seasons,” but he is best known for the final season of his life. A prominent government official when Henry VIII seized control over the church in England, Thomas refused to go along with the power grab.

St Thomas More was a father of four who became Lord Chancellor of England, until he too refused the King's demand. Both were beheaded on Tower Hill.

Henry was a Machiavellian king and while he may have regretted the loss of More, he was more intent upon retaining his authority. As a final act of mercy, Henry commuted More's punishment to mere decapitation.
