I can't figure out how to activate the virtual keyboard reliably. Steam + X under Steam OS, is there something similar for windows? Some apps seem to handle the keyboard well, some seem to pretend it doesn't exist.

May 11, 2022 · I can confirm @LinesGuy2 is correct- when using the Steam Deck in regular handheld mode, the onscreen keyboard can be toggled between anchoring at the bottom of the screen and at the top by pressing what’s often the start button, the one near the X and Y buttons. Thank you for teaching me and others about this incredibly useful feature.

Sep 15, 2022 · If Skyrim detects a gamepad, it turns off mouse/keyboard controls. I haven't tried this myself but I bet if you use mouse and keyboard mapping on the Steam Deck controller, then an actually mouse and keyboard will probably work.
