Aug 7, 2021 · The SR6015 model is a 9CH model that would be able to do a 5.1.4 setup as well as a 7.1.4 setup by adding an external 2CH amp. As has also been mentioned, in a 5.1.2 configuration, the best position for the Atmos speakers is directly overhead and about 1' forward of the main listening position configured as "Top Middle."

Mar 21, 2005 · THe OP's post makes it sound as though what is being suggested is the only correct configuration for any 5.1.2 setup. It would not be correct for 5.1.2 setups utilising either front height or ceiling mounted speakers to fascilitate an Atmos setup.

Jun 21, 2018 · If you have only one pair of ceiling speakers for 5.1.2, it would be the top-middle location. (If you had one pair of non-ceiling speakers, they would be either front-height or rear-height).

Was very underwhelmed....just seemed incredibly trivial and gimmicky to me compared to a normal high quality 5.1 setup...all that trouble just to add a vertical dimension to the sound effects? ZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Jun 9, 2020 · Hi if you're only after a 5.1.2 setup, height speakers should be placed at the front not rear. If you want to place them as heights, I'd mount them as high up and close to the ceiling as possible, in line with your front L&R speakers. Pointing down to the MLP (see 1st pic). Set them in "downfiring" mode in this position.
