An MLK Day march weaved through downtown Phoenix on Jan. 20, the same day Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president.

As the nation honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. we turn to voices from our community to reflect on what this day means to them. Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and then an activist who became the leader of the civil rights movement.

"I remember having tanks and the National Guard with bayonets in the streets, I remember curfew, and so that encouraged me also to become a social activist," said Dr. Morris.

"I look forward to hearing what plans he has for African Americans in this country and how we are going to succeed."
