Tricia Tuttle has scored big studio films, including Bong Joon-Ho's 'Mickey 17' and Richard Linklater's 'Blue Moon,' for her first Berlinale. But she wants the cinema, not politics, to be center stage.

Richard Linklater's new feature about a Broadway composer, a documentary about young people in war-torn Ukraine and a homage to 1960s' spy films were among the films unveiled on Tuesday as part of the 2025 Berlin Film Festival's competition line-up.

This year’s festival will mark the debut of new artistic director Tricia Tuttle, who previously helmed the BFI London Film Festival. As previously announced, the fest will open with Tom Tykwer’s “The Light,” the German director’s return to the big screen after seven years and four seasons working on the hit series “Babylon Berlin.”

The Berlin International Film Festival, the world’s largest public film festival, is announcing its full lineup today. The festival’s official press conference has begun, with new festival director Tricia Tuttle announcing the competition program for the 75th Berlinale.

The 19 films in contention for the festival's Golden Bear top prize feature several directors making their return to the German capital, including Romania's Radu Jude, with his new dark comedy Kontinental '25, and South Korea's Hong Sang-soo with his languorous family comedy What Does that Nature Say to You.
