An emotional General Assembly gathering to remember the 100 Black Virginians served in the Virginia General Assembly from the late 1870s to 1890 and in the 1867 constitutional convention.

Nici Cumpston will succeed founding director Margo Smith, who plans to retire in May after 27 years at the helm.

Inmates in Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach will have their artwork on full display in the Chrysler Museum of Art as part of the ‘Beyond the Block’ exhibit from Jan. 28 through March 3.
