If this is Mohamed Salah’s final season at Liverpool, he is going out in style. The Egypt striker scored his 50th European goal for Liverpool and his 22nd in all competitions this season to help Arne Slot’s team secure a place in the Champions League round of 16 with a 2-1 win against Lille.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has said he is "very, very proud" of becoming the first player in the club's history to score 50 goals in Europe.

“Hopefully (it’s) not the last one,” said Salah, whose contract expires at the end of the season and has increasingly raised the prospect that this could be his last with the Merseyside club.

Rodrygo is perhaps not yet at Salah's level, but he's close and more importantly, he's almost a decade younger. Liverpool should see the 24-year-old winger as their number one option to replace Salah. With the Reds, Rodrygo could continue to blossom into his prime years and become a core piece for the foreseeable future.

Salah's 50th European goal for Liverpool came with a brilliant finish, after a brilliant pass from Curtis Jones. He has now scored 20 Champions League goals at Anfield, with his overall tally including 44 Champions League goals, five Europa League goals last season, and one in Champions League qualifying.
