Activists on the continent say poverty contributes to the suspicion surrounding albinos and the belief their body parts can be sold for large sums of money.
Tanzania: A six-year-old whose hand was hacked off by men who broke into his home has become the latest albino in Tanzania to be attacked because their body parts are worth thousands of pounds.
The sentencing comes after Tanzania' President Jakaya Kikwete blasted the wave of killings of albinos, whose body parts are used for witchcraft, as a "disgusting and big embarrassment for the nation".
