If you have any interest in planes or outer space, this is a great museum to visit. There is so much to see: military planes and helicopters, spacecraft and satellites, even commercial planes. All … Full review by sallyjO336YK

We have 6 people in our group and are staying at the Hampton Inn, DC, White House. We don’t want to spend a lot of our time on transportation going and returning, so are thinking an Uber XL. Do you know approximate cost, time factor? Or could you suggest an alternate plan?
A:
Yeah, same as above. We were in the area for a week and rented a vehicle. Dropped by the museum on our way back to BWI.
Q:
We plan to visit prior to a flight is there a baggage storage area perhaps?
A:

Prior to the Covid pandemic, yes, there was a coat and baggage storage area. I do not know if it is still there. Three ideas: First, call the museum at 703 572 4118. Second, ask your airline how early you can check a bag. Finally, for me the museum experience is so good that I would rent a car for the day. You would also have to pay the $15 parking fee, but you would avoid the cost and hassle of a taxi/Uber/Lyft.
Q:
Does it cost money
A:
Actually even the parking is free after 4 p.m., but the remaining 1,5 hrs is a bare minimum to enjoy the museum.
Q:
Time of year to visit to avoid large crowds?
A:
Take the tour and also see one of the IMAX movies. Enjoy
Q:
Is there a kids area or exhibit specialized towards children?

Ask at the welcome center about the Kid's Scavenger Hunt to receive the game board. My kids ages 5 to 14 had a blast searching for the 8 aircraft to identify their animal nicknames. After returning their completed game boards for verification, they received prizes. There was also a Cessna aircraft the kids were able to sit in and operate the controls.
