I have walked around the whole yard at times carrying a soda with me, and my mother was drinking a coffee as we walked around. I did not see any garbage containers around the yard to put an empty container into. Last year when I was there, some people had a blanket on the ground to sit and watch the carferry and boats on Lake Michigan come and go from the Harbor. I hope that helps you, its really a wonderful place to visit towards the middle of July and so peaceful. People with green thumbs will really like this place.
