In a city with so many green spaces, the Water of Leith Walkway stands out. It stretches from the Leith waterfront for 12 miles to Balerno at the edge of Pentland Hills. Some sections are suitable fo… Full review by Mike O

I first encountered - looking for the pubs next to The Water of Leith - was, "The World's End". That pub is on The Royal Mile and two girls got murdered there. Ask a local if you want to know about… Full review by Nik W

This is a beautiful walk along the river with some absolutely stunning spots to take pictures along the way. If the weather is cooperating, it’s definitely worth an afternoon! Full review by CarnessV
Does any know if the visitors centre at Slateford is open at the moment on weekdays?

I am so excited about this walk but I have no idea what the best route to make THE MOST OF IT. I will be staying in Edinburgh, Cityroomz and I appreciate if you can guide me through this. And how much time do I need if I am willing to take the whole walk? Thanks.

Hi, from where you are going to stay, the best route is from Modern Gallery on Belford Road, if you join here you can walk along to Stockbridge which is a lovely little village within the town. This isn't a particularly long walk, but it would give you a feel for it. You will pass St Bernard's Well with the amazing statue of Hygeia. From Stockbridge, where I suggest you have a look around, you can then join the path again to Canonmills, again another small part of Edinburgh with nice cafes and a few shops. I hope you enjoy your stay.
Im travelling there at the end of August with a teenager and my husband wh's not a keen walker. I heard the entire walk takes about 2 1/2 to do, and that it's possible to choose any section. What would be the best recommended stretch in terms of history and scenery?

You can enter by the modern art museum so yeah you can chose any section I only saw.bit of it so don't have to do it all what ever bit you do I'm sure it will be stunning
We saw lots of young women walking alone in the middle of the day when we walked from the west end all the way to Leith. I agree with others that I probably would not do it after dark.
