Beautiful scenery but SANParks need tk start doing maintenance at the rest campa/chalets. Showe floors are covered in algae. On day four the shower door is broken off, so there is no privacy at all. … Full review by Hermanpieters

Great trail with awesome views. Need to be fit and no issues with knees and ankles. Ensure you have hiking poles and good boots. Saw whales 4 out off 5 days. Huts are well situated and sit on the bea… Full review by MuhammadO254

Yes, firstly be fit. I underestimated how challenging it would. Also plan your 4th day well and in advance, since you will need to cross the Bloukrans River then. It can be a horrowing …

Yes, firstly be fit. I underestimated how challenging it would. Also plan your 4th day well and in advance, since you will need to cross the Bloukrans River then. It can be a horrowing experience I think if you try and cross at high tide. We crossed 2h after high tide, and got across, but wasn't easy and wouldn't recommend it if you are not a good swimmer. The other rivers are not a challenge at all. Walking stick(s) is a must, as you will constantly going up and down hills, very few flat stretches. But all in all its amazingly beautiful and definitely worth doing. Good luck!

HI, We are traveling through South Africa on an around the world trip and would like to hike the Otter Trail. At the time my kids will be 11 and 13. Is this doable for kids that age? Also, since we will traveling most of the year we will need to rent some gear. Small stove, pots and pans, etc...Can anyone recommend a place close to the trailhead? Thanks
