We found the villa and the surrounding complex out here on the point of Sirmione to be so impressive. The price of admission was 8 Euros. As you enter the site there is a small museum with artifacts … Full review by Ronald R

We visited on a cold and wet day. It was interesting to understand some of the history. Some of the exhibits are described in Italian and English but some are in Italian only, which was challenging. Full review by Andrew C

Museum was good, lots of historical information which was very interesting. The site was a bit run down and was an odd mix of modern art and archeological history. I have rated 2 out of 5 purely due… Full review by Harry C

Hello vessi80 (and anyone else who can help) - Thanks for your review of the ruins at Catullo. Would you please tell me where you buy tickets for the boat from Desenzano to Sirmione? We will be staying in Desenzano for 3 nights in July and want to spend a day touring Sirmione. Getting there by water taxi would be wonderful. Thank you!

Agree with Harry D . No need to book. Quayside ticket office opens at 8am and first ferry at 8.20. Just buy your return for 6 euros to Sirmione and no stress. The guy at the office will tell you which little pier to go to which is only minutes away. Enjoy Sirmione but please go early or you might get the wrong impression of this lovely town.

Roughly how long do I need to explore the ruins. I will be doing an afternoon coach trip of 2-3 hours. Will this be long enough.

Hi Barbara, I’m so glad you asked. There’s a little train that takes you from the edge of the Medievil town to the ruins that gives you quick access and I would say minimum of two hours. I absolutely love Roman ruins and there so many picturesque places to take photographs and just enjoy, that I think two hours is probably enough but maybe give yourself a little bit more extra time. It was the highlight of my trip. Thank you for asking, If I can be of any more help please let me know I’ve been there three times. Marilyn Ps as you pass through the town I think that castle there is worth visiting there is not a lot in it but it’s worth the visit I think. It’s not spectacular though. But the views are nice.
