We've been going on the Santa train or Mince Pie Special for twenty something years since my children were little and we're now taking grandchildren! The whole experience never disappoints. The staff… Full review by Z8703HXcarolined

Similar to other reviews, paid a high amount for an apparent 50 min train ride Santa experience. Was more like 10 minutes and the rest sat stationary. Very disappointing and very boring. Would not re… Full review by M M

Thinking of booking the Saturday fish and chips experience just wanted to know how the steam train is set in the dining area for the fish and chips lunch. Some of the pictures the dining area looks all dressed up and waiters and then there is a picture with it not dressed or no waiter service. I would not personally recommend this railway for a train enthusiast. Check the SVR railways timetable. Sometimes trains run during the week, other than the busy weekend. As for the weekend (I visited on a Sunday) the place was packed with children. The carriages were packed with young children with their parents leaving on standing room. If you cannot find mid-week train operation can I recommend the following : Check out the train complex at Didcot off of the A34. It is a train enthusiast dream. Or, the West Somerset Railway near Taunton. Or the Steam Museum at Swindon and do some retail shopping as well. Or with a bit more of a drive - the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway. Hope this helps
